ITV has announced that Anna Friel leads the star-studded ensemble cast for its new noir crime drama Marcella, penned by BAFTA-nominated Swedish writer Hans Rosenfeldt.

BBC One has commissioned two new drama series — His Dark Materials and In the Dark — adapted from the novels by Philip Pullman and Mark Billingham, respectively.

Mancunians must be out in droves with cameraphones now, as Lesley Sharp and Suranne Jones are filming the new three-part special of the hit crime drama Scott & Bailey.

It’s a sad day in Brit TV land, as ITV has announced that the current series of Lewis, known as Inspector Lewis in the US, is the last.
