Happy New Year! Sixteen new and returning British and Canadian programs premiere nationally this month, with another thirteen streaming titles available for binge-watching.

Mark your 2018 calendars for Acorn TV’s US premieres of the new UK drama Girlfriends and the third series of the hit British comedy Detectorists. And there’s more besides…

A happy hump day it is, because we get to slide into the weekend knowing that Detectorists, one of the best British comedies ever, is returning for another season. Woo hoo!

No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. A whopping twenty-one series premiere in or return to the US this month, including some of the most highly-anticipated shows this year.

For comedy gold, look no further than to Detectorists, the BAFTA Award-winning series that returns next month to the States, nationally and locally, with its second series.

One hundred thirty TV shows from British Commonwealth territories and Ireland were new to the US in 2015, and selecting my fifteen favorites of the year took some doing.

British comedy Plebs will soon be making its stateside debut on Hulu, where The Delivery Man and Detectorists will get expanded distribution in the US.
