Summer’s here and the time is right for tuning into new and returning crime thrillers, documentaries, mysteries, period dramas, and sci-fi series, plus a competition show, from the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Autumn is here, and with the crispness of the air and fewer hours of daylight come a bevy of British TV premieres, including some of the most highly-anticipated program returns.
The third series of Shetland, one of the best returning seasons amongst British TV programs in 2016, is set to premiere on KCET, the largest independent public TV station in the US.
It’s time to get your laugh on, Scottish style, as two sitcoms and one sketch show, all set in the greater Glasgow area, have arrived on Netflix US.
“Seems it never rains in Southern California,” sang Briton Albert Hammond in the early ’70s, but it will be pouring British programs here during KCET’s 2015/2016 TV season.

As another year of fabulous British TV draws to a close, we take a look back at some of our favorite shows. Here in Part 1 are the ones that debuted in the US during 2014.
Murders in a cold climate? Check. Investigations done by an intense detective? Check. Nordic noir drama? Nope. Scottish. But Shetland is as dark and gritty as any crime series out of Scandinavia, and just as compelling.
