International TV hits keep on coming to Ovation TV. The network’s latest acquisition is Luther, the award-winning British crime drama starring Idris Elba.
Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, continues its commitment to providing premium mystery content to its viewers by adding the gripping, smart, and entertaining detective drama Luther to its programming mix.
This, following Ovation TV’s recent acquisitions of crime thrillers The Fall (UK) and The Code (Australia), British political thriller Secret State, and British mystery series Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime; new seasons of Canadian period mystery dramas Murdoch Mysteries and Frankie Drake Mysteries; and the launch of Mystery Alley, which includes titles from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
The Luther deal with BBC Studios includes the first four seasons, whose episodes Ovation TV will air back-to-back on Mondays starting October 12.
Golden Globes® winner Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) stars as DCI John Luther, a brilliant, obsessive, and maverick detective working for London’s Serious Crime Unit. Throughout the series, he faces a succession of psychological duels between hunter and hunted, predator and prey. But as the stakes get ever higher and more personal, Luther’s lonely path pulls him towards the very edge of temptation.
Costars include Dermot Crowley (Hard Sun), Michael Smiley (Dead Still), Warren Brown (X Company), Ruth Wilson (The Affair), Paul McGann (Doctor Who), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Gold Digger), Steven Mackintosh (The Halcyon), Saskia Reeves (Belgravia), and Indira Varma (Game of Thrones).
