There will be far fewer British TV premieres in the US in June than in previous months — just eleven new and returning national programs and one local — but it beats none, amirite?

NATIONAL PREMIERES

Springwatch (UK)

Springwatch returns with a special program that connects us to UK wildlife. Presenters Chris Packham, Gillian Burke, and Lola Williams adjusted to the new normal and found innovative ways to film from their own local areas. The new season of Springwatch premieres in North America on Monday, June 1, exclusively on BritBox as a “Now” title. New episodes in the 10-episode season will debut daily. (Video is from 2019)

I May Destroy You (UK)

BAFTA Award winner Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum, Black Earth Rising) created, wrote, executive produced, and stars in this series as Arabella Essiuedu, a writer who is forced to reassess everything in and about her life after she is sexually assaulted. (For further details, read this article.) I May Destroy You premieres in the US on Sunday, June 7, at 10:30 PM ET, on HBO. It will also be available for streaming on HBO Go, HBO Now, and HBO Max.

Sticks & Stones (UK)

This new thriller from Mike Bartlett (Doctor Foster) centers on Thomas Benson (Ken Nwosu, Killing Eve), a sales guy who, after fainting during a pitch, finds himself being undermined, attacked, and backstabbed at his company. He then goes to increasingly desperate lengths to remain successful and to control his team — who seem to be out to get him. Costarring Ben Miller (Death in Paradise), Sean Sagar (Our Girl), Susannah Fielding (I Want My Wife Back), Ritu Arya (Feel Good), and Alexandra Roach (No Offence), Sticks & Stones, a BritBox Original series, premieres in North America with its first episode on Tuesday, June 9, exclusively on BritBox. New episodes will debut weekly.

Bulletproof: Season 2 (UK)

Noel Clarke (Doctor Who) and Ashley Walters (Top Boy) return as NCA Detective Inspectors Aaron Bishop and Ronnie Pike in this action- and humor-filled buddy cop drama. The new season finds the pair going undercover to infiltrate a crime family whose former matriarch (Gina Bellman, Leverage) is an old acquaintance of Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Tanner (Lindsey Coulson, Eastenders). Bulletproof: Season 2 premieres in the US on Wednesday, June 10, at 9 PM ET, on The CW.

Grantchester: Season 5 (UK)

Having overcome their challenges in Season 4, the new season of this popular mystery series opens in 1957 and finds Will (Tom Brittney, The Five) preaching to a packed church while Geordie (Robson Green, Wire in the Blood) (just about) accepts Cathy’s (Kacey Ainsworth, EastEnders) commitment to her job. Mrs. C. (Tessa Peake-Jones, Unforgotten) happily juggles her roles as the vicarage housekeeper and a well-to-do married woman, and even Leonard (Al Weaver, Press) has managed to carve out some happiness with Daniel (Oliver Dimsdale, Mr. Selfridge) after a trip to Marrakesh. But Geordie and Will are reminded that there’s darkness lurking in their little corner of Cambridgeshire. Grantchester: Season 5 premieres in the US on Sunday, June 14, at 9 PM ET, on PBS (check your local listings). It will also be available for streaming on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.

Marcella: Season 3 (UK)

Eighteen months after the Season 2 finale, Marcella (Anna Friel, Deep Water) is living under a new identity in Belfast, where she has infiltrated a crime family as a deep undercover operative. Marcella, a Netflix Original series, premieres in the US on Sunday, June 14, exclusively on Netflix. (Video is from Season 1)

Prince AlbertPrince Albert: Victorian Hero Revealed (UK)

This documentary reveals the little-known yet profound role Prince Albert played in shaping Victorian Britain. In it Professor Saul David examines Albert’s influence and innovative ideas, which transformed the nation’s fortunes and created a legacy that lives on today. Hidden: Series 2 (Craith) (UK/Wales)

Set nine months after the events in Series 1, the new season of this Welsh crime thriller finds DCI Cadi John (Siân Reese-Williams, Line of Duty) and DS Owen Vaughan (Siôn Alun Davies, 35 Days) venturing back into the shadows of the mountains of Blaenau Ffestiniog in north Wales to investigate a brutal murder. Shown in English and Welsh with English subtitles, Hidden: Series 2 premieres in the US on Monday, June 15, exclusively on Acorn TV.

Panorama Coronavirus: The Scientific Battle (UK)

As politicians decide how and when to lift the lockdown, Panorama investigates out how science can help us defeat the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. With access to key drug and vaccine trials, the current affairs program reveals a race against time to help save lives, and asks when are we likely to be able to return to a normal life. Lucy Worsleys Royal Myths and SecretsLucy Worsley’s Royal Myths & Secrets (UK)

Historian and author Lucy Worsley returns to telly with this new series, in which she takes viewers across Britain and Europe to visit locations where royal history was made. During her tour through European history, viewers learn the true stories behind Elizabeth I and the Spanish Armada, Queen Anne and the information of Great Britain, Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution, and more. Set on the cusp of the 19th century in Dehli, India, this six-part period drama follows the twists and turns in the fortunes and the complex relationships of the residents of the eponymous mansion, including John Beecham (Tom Bateman, Vanity Fair), a former soldier who bought the estate to begin a new life with his family. Beecham House makes its linear TV debut on Sunday, June 14, at 10 PM ET, on PBS (check your local listings).

Line of Duty: Season 3 (UK)

In this season of the hit crime thriller, AC-12’s DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston, The Nest), DC Kate Fleming (Vicki McClure, Broadchurch), and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar, Blood) investigate Sergeant Danny Waldron (Daniel Mays, White Lines) and his team of officers when evidence suggests their shooting death of a criminal suspect was not self-defense but cold-blooded murder. Line of Duty: Season 3 has its linear TV debut on Saturday, June 20, at 10 PM ET, on AMC.

Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime (UK)

Based on the Agatha Christie novels The Secret Adversary and N or M?, this series follows the husband-and-wife sleuthing team of Tommy (David Walliams, Little Britain) and Tuppence Beresford (Jessica Raine, Call the Midwife) as they solve mysteries and foil plots in 1950s Cold War Britain. Digging for Britain: Series 2-4 (UK)

In this documentary series, Professor Alice Roberts visits archaeological excavations around the UK and links together the results of digs with investigations of the country’s history. Among the stories explored are Marden Henge, where communal sweat lodges and feasting remains illuminate the lost rituals of Stonehenge, and Trellech, an enormous lost Welsh city discovered seven centuries after it disappeared from historical record. Digging for Britain: Series 2-4 begins streaming Monday, June 8.

Coast and Country: Railways (UK)

In this factual series, presenter Julia Bradbury (The Greek Islands with Julia Bradbury) takes viewers on an outdoor adventure — walking along historic railway lines across England, Scotland and Wales, and discovering how the rise-and-fall of the railways has altered lives and localities across the UK. Coast and Country: Railways begins streaming Monday, June 22.

The Yorkshire Vet: Series 3-5 (UK)

Now in its tenth season, this observational documentary series takes viewers into the world behind the classic BBC drama All Creatures Great and Small, inspired by the books of Alf Wight (pen name James Herriot). Narrated by All Creatures star Christopher Timothy, the show follows Julian Norton, aka the Yorkshire Vet, and the staff at Skeldale Veterinary Centre (Wight’s original practice in Thirsk, North Yorkshire), including Peter Wright, Alf’s former trainee and the current head of practice. The Yorkshire Vet: Series 3-5 begins streaming Monday, June 29.

A precursor to the original Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime TV series, this film introduces James Warwick and Francesca Annis as Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley. It’s 1922, and the (not yet married) friends find themselves becoming novice sleuths after the British Government hires them to locate a secret treaty signed before the Great War. In this two-part documentary, historian Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb looks at the tumultuous love affair between Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and asks if it was really love that brought them together and tore them apart. Using first-hand accounts from the time and visiting the places where the royal couple lived, Lipscomb argues against many of the established theories and notions about them and reveals a very different story of their tragic marriage while attempting to answer many of the questions that are still fiercely debated. Wuthering Heights (UK)

Adapted from Emily Brontë‘s classic novel, this miniseries stars Oscar® nominee Tom Hardy (The Revenant) as Heathcliff and Charlotte Riley (Press) as Cathy in one of the greatest romances of all time. Set against the stark beauty of the English moor, it follows Heathcliff, an orphan adopted by the Earnshaw family, who finds his soul mate in his stepsister Cathy. But as a man unable to have the love of his life, he seeks vengeance against anyone who comes between them. Wuthering Heights begins streaming Friday, June 5.

This psychological thriller follows two hunters: serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan, Fifty Shades of Grey), who preys on victims in and around Belfast, and Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson, The X-Files), a Detective Superintendent drafted from the London Metropolitan Police to catch him. The Fall: Season 1 begins streaming Thursday, June 11.

Being Human: Season 4 (Canada-US)

In the final season of this North American remake of the hit Brit supernatural-horror series of the same name, vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer, Supergirl) and werewolf Nora (Kristen Hager, Condor) try to figure out how to turn her husband Josh (Sam Huntington, Good Girls), always a werewolf now except during the full moon, back to normal, while former ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath, Hawaii Five-0) finally tells a special someone how she feels. Being Human: Season 4 begins streaming Thursday, June 25.
