The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (UK)

This new six-episode British comedy-adventure series stars Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh, The Great British Baking Show) in the titular role as the legendary British highwayman. Set in the 18th century, this irreverent retelling of Dick Turpin’s story sees him as the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship, and great hair. After being made the reluctant leader of a gang of lovable rogues, Turpin sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades with them and rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity — all while trying to outwit and escape the clutches of corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville, Downton Abbey).

The ensemble cast includes Ellie White (The Windsors), Marc Wootton (High & Dry), Duayne Boachie (Blue Story), Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Asim Chaudhry (The Sandman), Dolly Wells (The Outlaws), Joe Wilkinson (Sex Education), Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner), Geoff McGivern (Free Rein), Michael Fielding (The Mighty Boosh), Samuel Leakey (Gretel & Hansel), and Kiri Flaherty (Blood).

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin premieres globally with the first two episodes on Friday, March 1, exclusively on Apple TV+, followed by a new episode every Friday through March 29.

During the journey, she tells him that a killer is on the loose in the sleepy English village of Wychwood under Ashe. Because for a certain kind of person, murder is easy…

While finding her feet in a male-dominated arena, Micki battles with her status as an outsider in the police force and in the community she serves, dealing with the looming specter of her personal life and confronting increasing darkness in her quest to trap and understand some of South Africa’s most infamous serial killers.

Extraordinary: Season 2 (UK)

In the first season of this comedy series, 25-year-old Jen (Máiréad Tyers, Belfast) is the only person over the age of 18 who hasn’t developed a superpower. Feeling like she’s being left behind, and adrift in a big, confusing world of superpowered adults, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower armed with nothing but a bit of hope and a lot of desperation.

Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off: following Jen on her journey as she enrolls as a client at the power clinic. Jen soon discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped, and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing, either. Ex-cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord (Luke Rollason, Industry) has had an unexpected revelation about his past, while Kash (Bilal Hasna, Screw) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham, Poldark) are attempting to be totally mature and dignified about their break-up, which isn’t easy when they’re still living under the same roof. It seems that Jen and the gang, with or without superpowers, are dealing with new levels of adulting and chaos that none of them are prepared for.

Returning cast include Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) and Robbie Gee (Motherland). Joining the cast are Julian Barrett (Flowers), Rosa Robson (The Outlaws), Kwaku Mills (The Other One), and Derek Jacobi (Vicious), who voices a special cameo role.

Alice & Jack (UK-US)

A love story for the ages, this drama series centers on Alice and Jack, who, upon meeting, feel a connection so powerful, it seems nothing can break it. But a deep trauma from Alice’s past causes her to reject Jack, leading them to part ways. Over the years that follow, their lives continue to intersect. Each time, the raw love between them is broken by circumstance, the past, or their own imperfections. Then, just when it seems that their love will finally become tangible, they receive terrible news that will irrevocably change both of their futures. In the end, Alice and Jack may even wonder if it’s possible that love can last beyond life itself. Honest, intimate, and surprisingly funny, the series shows love in all of its unexpected, technicolor, kaleidoscopic beauty.

Created and written by Victor Levin (Mad Men, Mad About You), the series stars Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie, Birdman, Shadow Dancer) and Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient, Brooklyn, The Revenant) as the titular characters. Costars include Aisling Bea (Greatest Days, This Way Up), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Living), and Sunil Patel (This Time with Alan Partridge, Stath Lets Flats).

The Long Shadow (UK)

This true-crime drama depicts the desperate five-year hunt in the 1970s-’80s for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, aka the “Yorkshire Ripper” — bringing a new perspective to the well-documented story by putting the victims and their families at the heart of the series.

When a mother of four is found murdered near her home in October 1975, DCS Dennis Hoban (Toby Jones, Mr Bates vs. the Post Office, Detectorists) leads the investigation but is frustrated in his efforts to find her killer. After a succession of further murders, it dawns on the detectives that they are dealing with a serial killer. Bereft of serious leads, Hoban is quickly sidelined by Chief Constable Ronald Gregory (Michael McElhatton, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Chernobyl), who seeks to run the investigation his way. After even more murders, Gregory appoints Assistant Chief Constable George Oldfield (David Morrissey, Sherwood, The Walking Dead) to take over the inquiry.

As time moves on, Oldfield is galvanized by the arrival of a series of letters and a tape, purportedly from the killer himself. But even with this seemingly concrete evidence, the murders only continue, and members of the investigative squad become fatally entrenched in their belief that the killer means to target sex workers. Eventually, the team decides to go public with a massive press appeal, hoping to flush out the sender and as a result, the killer. But with this acting as a distraction, the killer is able to strike again and again, sparking waves of protests amongst young women across the country to reclaim the streets. After a chance arrest, the killer is finally identified and caught.

The seven-episode limited series’ ensemble cast features a who’s who of British television that includes Katherine Kelly (Gentleman Jack, Criminal UK), Daniel Mays (Des, Line of Duty), Liz White (Call the Midwife, Life on Mars), Jill Halfpenny (Everything I Know About Love, Liar), Jack Deam (Father Brown, DCI Banks), Chloe Harris (The Ipcress File, Nolly), Mark Stobbart (Line of Duty, Disobedience), Lee Ingleby (The A Word, George Gently), Steven Waddington (Slow Horses, Jamestown), Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks, The Split), Dorothy Atkinson (Pennyworth, Mum), Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey, Ackley Bridge), Shaun Dooley (Criminal Record, Gentleman Jack), Ruth Madeley (Doctor Who, The Rook), Adam James (Hotel Portofino, Vigil), and Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey, Absentia), amongst others.

The Long Shadow, a Sundance Now Original series, premieres in the US and Canada with two episodes on Thursday, March 21, on Sundance Now and AMC+, with new episodes dropping weekly on both platforms through April 25. (Rescheduled from November 2023)
