Fans of Commissaire Maigret, rejoice! The long-sought-after Maigret TV series starring Rupert Davis is now available for streaming!

Based on the “Inspector Maigret” mystery novels by Belgian author Georges Simenon, this classic 1960-1963 Maigret TV series stars Rupert Davies (War & Peace) as French police inspector Commissaire Jules Maigret of the Paris Brigade Criminelle. For his performance, Davies won the 1962 British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.

Of Simenon’s “Maigret” works, which include 75 novels and 28 short stories, 52 were adapted for this series of hour-long episodes (excluding the pilot, which featured a different actor in the role of Maigret).

Maigret is now available for streaming and digital download on Amazon US and Amazon UK. The series has four seasons of 13 episodes each, including:

“Maigret at Bay” is a feature-length movie that was was not a part of the Maigret series, but a title in the series BBC Play of the Month. It is based on the novel Maigret Defends Himself, and features Rupert Davies, Helen Shingler, and Neville Jason reprising their series roles of Commissaire Maigret, Madame Maigret, and Lapointe, respectively.
