Anthology mystery drama Innocent is returning to stateside screens with a new season and a new cast led by Katherine Kelly.
Set in the beautiful Lake District in northwest England, the second season of Innocent stars Katherine Kelly (Liar, Criminal: UK, Mr. Selfridge) as Sally Wright, a former teacher who has spent the past five years of her life in prison for the murder of one of her teen students, with whom she was also alleged to have had a sexual relationship.
In one fell swoop, Sally’s life imploded: she lost her freedom, her job as a teacher, and her husband, Sam (Jamie Bamber, Marcella, Law & Order: UK, Battlestar Galactica), who filed for divorce and is now engaged to a new woman, Karen (Priyanga Burford, Avenue 5, Press).
But now, Sally is finally free — her appeal upheld and her guilty verdict overturned in the face of incontrovertible evidence. She is determined to recover everything she lost and to prove, without a doubt, her innocence… as a new police investigation begins to uncover some uncomfortable truths.
Innocent: Season 2 premieres in the US with its first episode (of four) on Thursday, June 24, on Sundance Now and its digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon Channels and the AMC+ streaming bundle. New episodes will debut weekly on Thursdays.
Directed by Tracey Larcombe (Silent Witness), the series is produced and executive produced by Jeremy Gwilt (Foyle’s War), with Chris Lang (Unforgotten) and Matt Arlidge (Meadowlands) co-executive producing and writing the episodes.
(If you have watched the first story/season in the Innocent anthology, which stars Lee Ingleby from Criminal: UK and George Gently, it is currently available for streaming in the US on Sundance Now and its digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon Channels and the AMC+ streaming bundle, as well as on Amazon Video.)
