The cast is shaping up for the next two seasons of the multiple award-winning Netflix historical drama The Crown, with Tobias Menzies set to play the Duke of Edinburgh.

Golden Globe® nominee Tobias Menzies can currently be seen on American telly in the horror drama The Terror.  You might also remember him from the supernatural drama Eternal Law, historical drama Rome, crime drama The Shadow Line, spy drama The Night Manager, thriller The Honourable Woman, and fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

Most British TV viewers know him best, though, for playing both Frank Randall and his despicable ancestor Captain Jack Randall in the fantasy-romance period drama Outlander.

Now he takes over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith in The Crown, joining the previously announced Seasons 3 and 4 cast of Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, The Night Manager, Mr. Sloane, Rev.) as Queen Elizabeth II and Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech, Alice in Wonderland, Howards End, “Harry Potter” films) as Princess Margaret, who take over for Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby, respectively.

Check back in two years (lol) when the cast will change again for Seasons 5 and 6.
