Viewers on the stateside side of the pond, get ready to head back to the (fictional) Caribbean island of Saint-Marie, because Death in Paradise is returning soon.

Sun, sand, and murder are the stuff of Death in Paradise, the hit dramedy-mystery series that pulls in between 8-9 million viewers per week for its UK broadcasts on BBC One. It’s also one of the most popular British TV imports that debuts in the US exclusively on public TV stations before it becomes available months later on Amazon Video. (This could change if BritBox picks up the show.)

Anyhoo, the show will be back on these shores for its seventh season in a couple of months, and the list of guest stars is impressive. The actors include double BAFTA Film Awards nominee Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral, A Room with a View), BAFTA winner Sian Gibson (Car Share, The League of Gentlemen), and Primetime Emmy® nominee Denis Lawson (Bleak House, New Tricks).

Also joining the cast are Adjoa Andoh (Doctor Who), Charlotte Beaumont (Broadchurch), Mark Benton (The Halcyon), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey), Richie Campbell (The Frankenstein Chronicles), James Faulkner (Da Vinci’s Demons), Richard Harrington (Hinterland), Suzanne Packer (The Level), Harry Richardson (Poldark), John Sessions (The Loch), Steve Toussaint (Inspector Lewis), and Katy Wix (Agatha Raisin). And reggae singer Levi Roots has a rare drama role in this series.

And featuring in Series 7 are Pippa Haywood (Scott & Bailey), Sam Hoare (Dickensian), Jemima Rooper (Trauma), and Zoe Telford (Unforgotten).

All of the Series 6 regular cast are back for the new season, including BAFTA Awards nominee Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted) as Detective Inspector Jack Mooney, Joséphine Jobert (Sous le soleil de Saint-Tropez) as Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell, Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf) as Officer Dwayne Myers, Tobi Bakare (The Tunnel) as Officer JP Hooper, Elizabeth Bourgine (Elite Squad) as bar owner Catherine Bordey, and Don Warrington (The Five) as Police Commissioner Selwyn Patterson.

In the Series 6 finale, DI Mooney decided to stay on Saint-Marie as the resident detective, and in Series 7 he is adapting to island life while also uncovering secrets and lies within a famous reggae band. Meanwhile, DS Cassell tackles runaway suspects, Officer Myers might have met his romantic match, and Officer Hooper’s past returns to haunt him.

The baffling mysteries the team investigates this season include the supposed suicide of a billionaire’s fiancée, the poisoning death of a professional poker player, and a famous thriller author found stabbed to death in the middle of the ocean.

But wait, there’s more! As in Series 8 of Death in Paradise, which the BBC commissioned a few days ago, with Ardal O’Hanlon already confirmed for returning to the show.

Stay tuned for updates about when Death in Paradise: Series 7 will premiere in the US and which guest stars will appear in Series 8.
