The 2012 Summer Olympics in London start in less than two weeks, and the folks at BBC America have been blogging about all things British on its Anglophenia blog.

And they’ve been showcasing their “Brit Lists” and running “Anglo Fan Favorites” contests, including the one for the Man 0f 2102. Out of the more than 1 million votes cast for it, Tom Hiddleston (Wallander, Thor) took the top spot, beating out Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Last Enemy), who received 43% of the votes.

Now it’s the ladies’ turn, and you can vote for your favorite female British entertainer in the Women of 2012 tournament.

There are 16 rounds of 2 women each, including two from Downton Abbey: Dame Maggie Smith vs. Carey Mulligan (Bleak House) and Michelle Dockery vs. Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones).

Last year Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech, Howards End) won the lot, beating out JK Rowling and Dame Maggie Smith, who came in second and third, respectvely.

Which fab female will win the title for 2012? Will it be Joanna Lumley or Jennifer Saunders from Absolutely Fabulous? Or Dame Maggie, as we await Season 3 of Downton? Or will Adele trump them all and gain a new trophy to go with her soon-to-be-born baby?

We’ll find out at the end of this 16-week competition. In the meantime, go cast your vote for Round 1 before Thursday, July 19.
