Starz announced today that it has picked up Tip Toe, a new British drama thriller series starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey, for the US and English Canada.

Written by BAFTA winner and Primetime Emmy® Awards nominee Russell T Davies (It’s a Sin, Queer as Folk), Tip Toe is a darkly witty yet harrowing and explosive thriller. It stars Alan Cumming (The Traitors, The Good Wife) and David Morrissey (Sherwood, The Long Shadow).
Recently premiering in the UK on Channel 4 to critical acclaim, the five-part series explores the most corrosive forces facing the LGBTQ+ community as well as the world at large today.
The drama follows Leo (Cumming) and Clive (Morrissey), who’ve been next-door neighbors in Manchester for almost fifteen years. Leo runs Spit & Polish, a bar on Canal Street, and Clive is an electrician with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down for both of them, the world around them is growing more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radicalized, and the two neighbors gradually become deadly enemies, spotlighting the prejudices that have started to creep back into (or never really left) our lives.
Costars in the series include Pooky Quesnel (The A Word, Moonflower Murders) as Clive’s wife, Marie; Jackson Connor (Phoenix Rise, Masters of the Air) as Clive’s youngest son, George; Joseph Evans (The Map That Leads To You, CC Emily) as George’s older brother, Saul; Elizabeth Berrington (Lost Boys & Fairies, Last Night In Soho) as Leo’s best friend, Stephanie; Iz Hesketh (Renegade Nell, Hollyoaks) as Zee, and Shakeel Kimotho (La Cage Aux Folles & Cats theatre shows) as Hanna, workers at Spit & Polish; Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Wednesday, Devs) as the bar’s manager, Judy; Paul Rhys (Saltburn, Napoleon) as Melba, a Canal Street fixture; Charlie Condou (Doctor Who, Unforgotten) as Leo’s ex-husband, Curtis; and Denise Welch (Waterloo Road, Coronation Street) as Diane.
Filmed entirely in Manchester, Tip Toe was commissioned by Channel 4. The series is produced by Quay Street Productions, with Quay Street CEO Nicola Shindler (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax), Russell T Davies, Peter Hoar (The Last of Us, Shetland) and Alan Cumming serving as executive producers and Phil Collinson (Doctor Who, Gentleman Jack) as producer. It is directed by Peter Hoar.
Tip Toe will premiere in the US and English Canada exclusively on Starz later this year. Stay tuned for updates.
