Acorn TV announced today the multi-territory premiere date for Season 2 of Inspector Ellis, the hit detective drama series starring Sharon D Clarke.

It won’t be long now for three-time Olivier Award winner and BAFTA Award nominee Sharon D Clarke (Mr Loverman, Showtrial, Lost Boys & Fairies, Rocketman) to be back on our screens on this side of the pond (and beyond) as the tenacious Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Ellis.
Costarring alongside Clarke in Inspector Ellis is Andrew Gower (The Winter King, Carnival Row, Outlander), who plays DCI Ellis’s colleague, DS Harper. This detective duo fights a system rife with flaws while tackling failed investigations across the north of England.
Season 2 of the hit mystery-crime drama series sees the two detectives face a new wave of fractured communities and suspicious deaths that test not only her forensic brilliance but also her resilience.
The new season opens with DCI Ellis and DS Harper called in to investigate the suspicious death of a well-respected businessman in the rural village of Ashenham. As the local police focus their attention on one young suspect, DCI Ellis must see beyond old grudges to catch the real killer. But she soon finds herself at the center of multiple crises and under pressure from all sides when tensions in Ashenham boil over. Then, after a key suspect vanishes and dark secrets resurface, she uncovers the truth and the tragedy buried in the town’s complex past.
In the second two-part story, DCI Ellis and DS Harper take on the case of a female university student killed in a scaffolding accident at a local stone works in Elmsly. Suspecting foul play, DCI Ellis digs into the victim’s final days, uncovering a secret that powerful figures will do anything to protect. As new revelations send shock waves through Elmsly, the detectives are drawn deeper into a web of hidden alliances and unsettling truths. But when a missing person is found battered, public pressure mounts, and DCI Ellis races to solve the case.
Inspector Ellis: Season 2 premieres in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on Monday, July 6, exclusively on Acorn TV. New episodes will drop weekly through July 27.
Costars include Charlotte McCurry (Say Nothing, Dalgliesh) as Detective Constable (DC) Kate Trent and Allison Harding (Malpractice, Dalgliesh) as Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) Alison Leighton.
Guest stars in Season 2 include Mark Addy (The Full Monty, Atlantis), Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks, Ballykissangel), John Hollingworth (Poldark), Judy Flynn (The House of Eliot), Cariad Lloyd (Changing Ends), Sonny Walker (Legends), Niamh Blackshaw (Hollyoaks), and Caroline O’Neill (Endeavour), amongst others.
