Apple TV+ announced today The Wanted Man, a new thriller series starring Hugh Laurie.
The Wanted Man sounds like another taut, tension-filled thriller starring Hugh Laurie (House, Avenue 5). Like in The Night Manager, he plays a bad guy; unlike in that series, his character is the antihero here.
The eight-episode drama follows Felix Carmichael (Laurie), the elusive and powerful head of “The Capital,” a notorious British crime syndicate. After being untouchable for twenty years, Carmichael is finally apprehended. But while he’s held in the infamous Staplehurst prison, it becomes clear that he’s been betrayed by one of his own. As the traitor moves to dismantle the empire he has built, Carmichael must risk everything in a daring escape. Willing to stop at nothing to take his revenge, if he succeeds, he’ll be a wanted man once more.
Costarring in the series are Thandiwe Newton (Westworld, Crash), Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk, Emily), Gina McKee (My Policeman, The Years), Hazel Doupe (Say Nothing, Kathleen Is Here), Elliott Heffernan (Blitz), and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones, The Hours).
Created, written, and showrun by George Kay (Hijack, Lupin), the series is directed by Jakob Verbruggen (The Fall, London Spy, Dark Matter). Kay executive produces alongside Willow Grylls (Des, The Missing) and Matt Sandford (The Long Shadow).
The Wanted Man is a co-production of New Pictures (The Long Shadow, The Missing), an All3Media company, and Kay’s Observatory Pictures.
