BritBox has set the North America premiere date for its Original true-crime miniseries The Barking Murders, starring Stephen Merchant.
Written by the award-winning team of Jeff Pope (Isolation Stories, A Confession) and Neil McKay (The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher, The Moorside), The Barking Murders is a three-part drama that sheds light on the crimes of Stephen Port, who murdered four young gay men in London in the mid-2010s.
The miniseries stars Stephen Merchant (The Outlaws, The Office) as Stephen Port and Sheridan Smith (Isolation Stories, The Moorside) as Sarah Sak, the mother of one of the victims. The drama focuses on the victims’ loved ones, who fought tirelessly to uncover the truth, and the investigation that finally brought a dangerous killer to justice.
Going beneath the headlines to deliver a new perspective on the story, The Barking Murders reveals missed opportunities by the police and looks at the devastating impact these crimes had on both the victims’ loved ones and on the wider gay community in London.
The Barking Murders, a BritBox Original, premieres in North America on Tuesday, June 7, exclusively on BritBox.
The cast includes Samuel Barnett (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency), Leanne Best (Young Wallander), Michael Jibson (The Essex Serpent), Rufus Jones (Home), Daniel Ryan (The Bay), and Jaime Winstone (Babs), amongst others.
