Netflix has set the global premiere date and dropped a teaser for Young Wallander: Killer’s Shadow, the second season of the British crime thriller set in contemporary Sweden.
In Young Wallander: Killer’s Shadow, Adam Pålsson (Before We Die, Moscow Noir, Don’t Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves) has his second outing as a young Kurt Wallander, whose older self is the iconic Swedish detective created by the late Henning Mankell in his best-selling “Kurt Wallander Mystery” novels.
Set soon after the events in the first season of this prequel/origin story series, “Killer’s Shadow” finds Kurt adrift and uncertain of the future following his exit from the police force. An opportunity to re-join the Major Crimes Unit arises when a new Superintendent, Samuel Osei (Tomiwa Edun, The Capture, A Discovery of Witches), takes on the leadership. Wallander accepts the offer and is tasked with what seems to be a straightforward case: a hit-and-run outside a nightclub.
However, when the victim is found to be connected to an infamous murder case handled by Frida Rask (Leanne Best, Close to Me, Cold Feet) eight years ago, Wallander quickly suspects that there is more to this incident than meets the eye. Determined to uncover the truth, he refuses to back off — even when the investigation leads him to the door of those who could end his career in a heartbeat.
Returning cast members include Ellise Chappell (Poldark) and Yasen Atour (The Witcher). Joining the cast of the six-episode second season are Lisa Hammond (EastEnders), Josef Davies (1917), Lewis Mackinnon (Victoria), and Kim Adis (Foundation).
Young Wallander: Killer’s Shadow, a Netflix Original series, premieres globally on Thursday, February 17, exclusively on Netflix.
