Acorn TV has announced the premiere date for its new Original mystery series The Chelsea Detective, starring Adrian Scarborough.
The Chelsea Detective stars Adrian Scarborough (Killing Eve, 1917, Blunt Talk) as Detective Inspector Max Arnold, a sharp and intuitive investigator who delves into crimes committed in Chelsea. He doesn’t just work here; he lives in Chelsea, too — on a houseboat on the River Thames, just yards from some of the most valuable real estate in Europe — after separating from his art dealer wife, Astrid (Anamaria Marinca, The Politician’s Husband, The Last Enemy).
While Chelsea is a beautiful borough for beautiful people, it also has a dark underside, one of deprivation, violence, greed — and murder. Bodies have a way of turning up, and things are rarely what they seem, but Max’s determination and acuity mean he’ll find a way to root out the truth and bring those responsible to justice, regardless of their wealth or status.
Assisting Max in his investigations is his no-nonsense partner, DS Priya Shamsie (Sonita Henry, Krypton, Luther). Also on his team are research and tech queen DC Jess Lombard (Lucy Phelps, Holby City), rookie officer DC Connor Pollock (Peter Bankolé, Peaky Blinders), and brilliant, if occasionally daunting, Chief Forensics Officer Ashley Wilton (Sophie Stone, Shetland). Then there’s Max’s mum (Frances Barber, Whitstable Pearl, Doctor Who)…
The wide range of crimes that Max and his team investigate cover a diverse cross section of Chelsea life — from the mansions of the super-rich and the rarefied corridors of a prestigious international school, to the council flats of the World’s End Estate, the leafy melancholy of Brompton Cemetery, and the bustle of the King’s Road.
The Chelsea Detective, an Acorn TV Original, premieres in the US and Canada on Monday, March 7, exclusively on Acorn TV. New episodes will debut weekly through March 28.
Created and executive produced by Emmy® Award-winning Peter Fincham (The Lost Prince, Smack the Pony, I’m Alan Partridge), the four feature-length episodes are written by Glen Laker (Vera, Prime Suspect), Peter Fincham, and Liz Lake (Riviera, Call the Midwife). The series producer is Ella Kelly (Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders). The directors are Richard Signy (Death in Paradise, Silent Witness) and Darcia Martin (Call the Midwife, Judge John Deed).
