The re-release of Brideshead Revisited, remastered in stunning 4K, will debut in honor of the 40th anniversary of the iconic miniseries.

Based on Evelyn Waugh’s 1945 novel of the same name — selected by Modern Library as one of the 100 best novels of the 20th century — the eleven-part period drama is considered one of the greatest literary adaptations of all time. It stars Jeremy Irons (Dead Ringers, The Borgias) and Anthony Andrews (Upstairs, Downstairs, The Scarlet Pimpernel).

Taking place from the 1920s to the early 1940s, this seminal story follows the life of Charles Ryder (Irons). He is a young man of modest means in 1922, when he meets and quickly bonds with fellow Oxford student Lord Sebastian Flyte (Andrews), the younger son of a wealthy family of English Catholics who live at the palatial Brideshead Castle. Their friendship, and what comes from it, changes Ryder’s life forever.

Brideshead Revisited in 4K premieres in North America on Tuesday, October 12, exclusively on BritBox.
