Following its recent premiere of Keeping Faith, Acorn TV is bringing another series from Wales to the US and Canada — the mystery-crime drama Hidden.
Hidden (Craith) is the new Welsh noir series created by Mark Andrew and Ed Talfan, the award-winning team behind the international hit Hinterland/Y Gwyll.
Set amidst the rugged, atmospheric landscape of Snowdonia in northwest Wales, the eight-part mystery drama stars Sian Reese-William (Hinterland, Requiem, Emmerdale) as DI Cadi John, a good, hard-working cop who returns to her childhood home to help care for her ailing father.
While policing the precinct and the people of her youth — a job she enjoys despite being back in a world she never expected to return to — Cadi and her partner DS Owen Vaughan (Sion Alun Davies, 35 Diwrnod, Requiem, Endeavour) are called in to investigate after the body of a young woman is found in a remote mountain river. Their inquiries turn up links between the victim and the disappearances of other teen-aged girls in the area. Then their case becomes a race against the clock to save a life.
The series costars Rhodri Meilir (Pride, My Family, Doctor Who), Gwyneth Keyworth (Wasted, Doctor Thorne), Gillian Elisa (Stella, A Mind to Kill), Nia Roberts (Keeping Faith, Bang), Ian Saynor (The Tudors, Doctor Who), and Victoria Pugh (35 Diwrnod, Torchwood), and features BAFTA Wales award winner Mark Lewis Jones (Keeping Faith, Stella).
Produced by Hannah Thomas (Becoming Human) and directed by Gareth Bryn (Hinterland), Hidden is a production Severn Screen, produced in partnership with all3media international with the support of Welsh broadcasters S4C and BBC Wales.
Acorn TV, which acquired the exclusive VOD, DVD, and download rights for Hidden in the US and Canada, will feature the exclusive North American series premiere in July 2018.
