Brian and Maggie (UK)

This historical drama dramatizes the final TV interview of the “Iron Lady,” Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Dame Harriet Walter, Succession, Ted Lasso, The Crown), by the “much feared inquisitor,” journalist Brian Walden (Steve Coogan, (Philomena, The Reckoning, The Conviction: The Case of Stephen Lawrence), considered one of the most famous political exchanges of all time. The 45-minute showdown became a talking point across the UK, reshaped national opinion, and helped set in motion a series of events that ended with Thatcher’s resignation. Prior to the interview, Thatcher and Walden were old friends. After the interview, they never spoke again.

Based on political program producer/editor Rob Burley’s account of the Walden-Thatcher interview in his book, Why Is This Lying Bastard Lying to Me?: Searching for the Truth on Political TV, Brian and Me premieres in the US on Sunday, October 5, at 8pm ET, on PBS (check your local listings), and concludes on October 12 at the same time. Maigret (UK)

Inspired by the “Inspector Maigret” novels by Belgian author Georges Simenon, this new mystery-crime drama series reimagines the internationally-popular stories by setting them in the present day and making the lead character a bit younger and more slender than he’s described in the books. In the TV series, Chief Inspector Maigret (Benjamin Wainwright, Belgravia: The Next Chapter, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim) and his team of maverick but loyal detectives, affectionately known as “Les Maigrets,” solve a series of complex crimes in modern-day Paris. While dealing with his own troubled past, Maigret must outwit some of Paris’s most cunning and violent criminals, applying unconventional methods and his own unique sense of justice, which put him at odds with both his superiors and the judicial system he is supposed to represent.

Maigret premieres in the US on Sunday, October 5, at 9pm ET, on PBS (check your local listings), with streaming available on PBS.org, the PBS app, PBS Passport (6-episode binge), and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.

Ozzy: No Escape from Now (UK-US)

Produced in collaboration with the Osbourne family, this feature-length documentary is the definitive account of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne’s life during the last six years. It was never intended as a posthumous film, but unfortunately became one after Ozzy’s death on July 22, 2025. Alongside Ozzy and his wife, Sharon, children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack speak candidly about the late-night fall their father suffered in February 2019, and the subsequent life-changing impact of that accident, which ultimately led to him canceling his two-and-a-half-year farewell tour. Detailing his numerous corrective surgeries, escalating health issues, and the progressive effects of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the film delivers a brave, unvarnished, and relatable portrait of a man, highlighting how Ozzy’s ongoing chronic pain impacted his mental health and informed the music he made during this period.

The singer reveals how “Take What You Want,” his collaboration with Post Malone that was released in October 2019, kick-started a new musical phase in his storied career. Said Ozzy in the documentary, “It got me out of the blues. It helped me. That was the best medicine I ever had at that point.” Fans are also treated to the inside story of the two albums that followed: 2020’s acclaimed Ordinary Man and 2022’s double Grammy®-winning Patient Number 9 — both of which contain some of the singer’s most reflective work.

Capturing Ozzy at home and in the studio, the film also documents his heroic, last-minute decision to play the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in the UK in the summer of 2022 and his preparations for that performance; an exclusive soundcheck performance from his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in October 2024; and his journey to play the Back to the Beginning show at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, 2025.

Alongside the Osbourne family, the film also features contributions from band mates and friends, including Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan and Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ozzy’s longstanding guitarist Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt, Billy Morrison, Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Mike Inez (Alice in Chains), and Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), all of whom provide intimate, heartfelt perspectives on the man himself.

Ozzy: No Escape from Now premieres in the US and internationally (excluding Japan) on Tuesday, October 7, exclusively on Paramount+.

The Gold: Season 1 (UK)

This historical crime drama is inspired by the real-life events that took place on  November 26, 1983, when six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport, and inadvertently stumbled across gold bullion worth £26 million (roughly £112.3 million / US$143.3 million / €130.3 million in today’s value). What started as a typical armed robbery became a seminal event in British criminal history, not only for the scale of the theft but for its wider legacy. It was the biggest theft in world history then, leading to the heist being called “the crime of the century.” The subsequent disposal of the bullion led to the birth of large-scale international money laundering, provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom, united blue and white collar criminals, and left controversy and murder in its wake.

The Gold: Season 1 begins airing Sunday, October 5, at 10pm ET, on PBS (check your local listings), with streaming available on PBS.org, the PBS app, PBS Passport (6-episode binge), and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.
