Streaming service UP Faith and Family has set the US premiere date for Season 8 of the hit Canadian crime drama, Hudson & Rex.
Our favorite canine cop will be back soon… and he’s getting a new partner!
With Detective Charlie Hudson (John Reardon) having left Canada for family reasons, Detective Mark Hudson (Luke Roberts, Black Sails, Ransom, Holby City) joins the St. John’s Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit. While this Hudson is no relation to Charlie, Mark is a veteran of canine units in the Canadian forces and the Halifax PD, so he’s a natural as both the new partner to Rex, a K9 German Shepherd, and the unit’s new team leader.
New or not, Hudson doesn’t miss a beat, working alongside Superintendent Joe Donovan (Kevin Hanchard, SkyMed), Dr. Sarah Truong (Mayko Nguyen, ReGenesis), and tech specialist Jesse Mills (Justin Kelly, Between) to solve puzzling crimes in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
In the third episode of Season 8, airing June 25, Captain Sandy Yawn (Below Deck Mediterranean) guest stars as Captain Michelle Sirocco, a highly-professional captain who is helming a somewhat smaller vessel while she waits for her next super yacht to be outfitted. Unfortunately, her current charter is the thoroughly unlikeable and ruthless businessman, Jake Kaufman (David Storch, Murdoch Mysteries), his wife, and a business partner. When Kaufman is murdered, a deckhand becomes the prime suspect. But Rex leads Mark to believe that the motives and method of the killing might be much more complicated.
Hudson & Rex: Season 8 premieres in the US on Thursday, June 11, on UP Faith & Family. New episodes will drop weekly through September 10.
