Netflix released today a teaser for Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, which includes the mystery miniseries’ premiere date. Check it out.

If the Queen of Crime®, Agatha Christie, were alive today, she’d probably be chuffed to bits that her works are still being adapted for the screen on a fairly regular basis. (Whether she’d prefer watching them on a massive TV screen or a tiny mobile phone or tablet screen is anyone’s guess.)
The latest adaptation is from Netflix, and it’s based on Christie’s novel The Seven Dials Mystery, which features characters that were introduced in The Secret of Chimneys. These are the first two books in her “Superintendent Battle” series, which were followed by Murder Is Easy and Towards Zero (both of which were adapted over the past few years for the titular BBC-BritBox limited series). (And while some also include Cards on the Table in the “Battle” series, as the superintendent features in the story, it’s actually part of the “Poirot” series.)
Anyhoo, set in England in 1925, Netflix’s Seven Dials opens at a lavish country house, where the guests play a practical joke on one amongst them. Except it doesn’t go quite as planned. Someone gets offed. Interestingly, the person who dives head first into investigating the murder mystery is a rather unlikely sleuth: the aristocratic Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce, How to Have Sex, Persuasion, Get Even), whose inexperience in matters of homicide is offset by her inquisitiveness. As Bundle sets about solving the crime, she gets assistance in the forms of Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman, The Responder, A Confession) and her mum, Lady Caterham (Helena Bonham Carter, Nolly, The Crown), ultimately unraveling a chilling plot that will change her life.
Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, January 15, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
Written by Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch, Doctor Who), the series features Edward Bluemel (My Lady Jane, Sex Education) as Jimmy Thesiger, Nyasha Hatendi (Alex Rider, Casual) as Dr. Cyril Matip, and Alex Macqueen (Hunderby, The Delivery Man) as George Lomax.
