Netflix has announced the star-studded cast for That Christmas, a new animated feature starring Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy, amongst others.
That Christmas follows a series of entwined tales about family and friends, love and loneliness, and Santa Claus making a big mistake, not to mention an enormous number of turkeys! The heartwarming animated comedy centers on the residents of a charming seaside town, where things turn upside down one Christmas. Voicing some of the characters are Brian Cox (Succession, Medici) as Santa, Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Baptiste) as Ms. Trapper, Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) as Mrs. Williams, and Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as Bill.
The cast also includes Lolly Adefope (Ghosts), Alex Macqueen (Hijack), Katherine Parkinson (Humans), Sindhu Vee (Starstruck), India Brown (The Stranger), Zazie Hayhurst (Halo), Sienna Sayer (Trying), Jack Wisniewski, Rosie Cavaliero (Gentleman Jack), Paul Kaye (Vera), Guz Khan (Man Like Mobeen), Andy Nyman (A Small Light), Kuhu Agarwal, Bronte Smith (Still Up), Freddie Spry (Spencer), Ava Talbot (Trying), and Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death).
That Christmas is an adaptation of the beloved children’s book series (The Empty Stocking, Snow Day, and That Christmas) written by acclaimed BAFTA® Award-winning and Academy Award®-nominated writer and director Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually, Yesterday). The film marks both Curtis’s first animation project and the directorial debut of animation veteran Simon Otto (Love, Death & Robots, How to Train Your Dragon).
The festive feature also boasts a score from Academy Award® and BAFTA®-nominated composer John Powell (“How To Train Your Dragon” trilogy, Happy Feet, Shrek).
Produced by Locksmith Animation with animation production from DNEG, the film is written by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter and directed by Simon Otto. The producers are Nicole P. Hearon p.g.a (Moana, Frozen) and Adam Tandy p.g.a. (The Thick of It, Detectorists). Executive producing are Mary Coleman, Natalie Fischer, Julie Lockhart, Elisabeth Murdoch, Bonnie Arnold, Lara Breay, Sarah Smith, Rebecca Cobb, Richard Curtis, and Colin Hopkins.
