HBO announced today the US premiere date for the third and final season of fantasy drama His Dark Materials. Check out the teaser.

Based on The Amber Spyglass, the final novel in Philip Pullman’s award-winning is “His Dark Materials” trilogy, Season 3 of His Dark Materials, an HBO Original, premieres in the US with two back-to-back episodes on Monday, December 5, at 9 PM ET/PT, on HBO, with streaming available on HBO Max. New episodes of the eight-episode season will debut in pairs each week through to the series finale on December 26.

In the final chapter of this epic fantasy series, Lyra (Dafne Keen), the prophesied child, and Will (Amir Wilson), the bearer of The Subtle Knife, must journey to a dark place from which no one has ever returned. As her father’s great war against the Authority edges closer, they will learn that saving the worlds comes at a terrible price.

The Season 3 cast includes: Dafne Keen (The Refugees) as Lyra; Amir Wilson (The Kid Who Would Be King) as Will; Ruth Wilson (Luther) as Mrs. Coulter; James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) as Lord Asriel; Simone Kirby (Hidden Assets) as Mary Malone; Will Keen (The Crown) as Father President McPhail; Jade Anouka (The Drowning) as Ruta Skadi; Ruta Gedminstas (The Strain) as Serafina Pekkala; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost) as Commander Ogunwe; Jamie Ward (The Durrells in Corfu) as Father Gomez; Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (The Split), Simon Harrison (Endeavour), and Chipo Chung (Into the Badlands) as the rebel angels Balthamos, Baruch, and Xaphania; and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolfe as Ama. Also returning for the final season is Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) as Lee Scoresby.

His Dark Materials is produced by Bad Wolf in association with New Line Cinema for BBC One and HBO. Executive producing the series are Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, Joel Collins, and Julie Gardner for Bad Wolf; Philip Pullman, Jack Thorne, Tom Hooper; Deborah Forte, Toby Emmerich and Carolyn Blackwood for New Line Cinema; and Ben Irving for the BBC.
