Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, has announced that it will begin airing the first five seasons of the award-winning, fan-favorite series Doc Martin next month.

A veritable hit series, with local remakes having been produced in France, Germany, Spain and beyond, the original British version of Doc Martin arrives on Ovation TV in December.

The beloved dramedy stars Martin Clunes (Manhunt, Men Behaving Badly) as Martin Ellingham, a brilliant surgeon in London who becomes the GP in Portwenn, the not-so-sleepy seaside village in Cornwall where he spent holidays during his childhood, after he develops an aversion to blood. Here his socially maladroitness and gruff, tactless, no-bedside-manner nature are on full display — whether when dealing with patients or the receptionist at his surgery, or when simply interacting with the locals, including school teacher and soon-to-be love interest Louisa Glasson (Caroline Catz, DCI Banks, Murder in Suburbia).

Ovation TV begins airing Doc Martin: Season 1 on Thursday, December 9, at 11 PM ET — screening it in a three-hour block directly after four episodes of Death in Paradise — followed by the start of Season 2 on Thursday, December 23. Seasons 3-5 will air in 2022.

In addition to the Ovation TV linear channel, episodes of Doc Martin will also be available on demand and on the Ovation NOW app via Roku, iOS devices, Apple TV, and Android.
