Acorn TV announced today its acquisition of exclusive rights in North America and the Netherlands for the comedy series The Other One.
The Other One, which completes its run in the UK on BBC One this Friday, will land on this side of the pond next month on Acorn TV.
The new seven-part comedy follows two girls, both named Catherine Walcott, who had no idea the other existed until their father dies and they discover his secret family and their half-sister connection.
It stars Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey, Happy Valley, Loch Ness), Rebecca Front (The Thick Of It, Poldark, Love, Lies & Records), Ellie White (The Windsors, Stath Lets Flats), and Lauren Socha (Misfits, Catastrophe).
Produced by Tiger Aspect, this love story to siblings, mums, and bad dads is created and written by Holly Walsh (Motherland) and Pippa Brown (Psychobitches), and includes multi-episode guest stars Caroline Quentin (Doc Martin, Blue Murder) and Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks, Wild at Heart).
The Other One will premiere in the US and Canada as an Acorn TV Original on Monday, August 10, and in Mexico on Thursday, August 13 — exclusively on Acorn TV.
