Ashley Jensen returns as amateur sleuth Agatha Raisin next month, when Acorn TV launches the second season of the titular mystery series.
Based on M. C. Beaton’s best-selling books, Series 2 of Agatha Raisin features three television movies: Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham, Agatha Raisin and the Fairies of Fryfam, and Agatha Raisin and the Curious Curate.
Reprising her role as Agatha Raisin, a PR whiz who turns amateur sleuth after retiring early and relocating from London to a small village in the Cotswolds, is Emmy®- and SAG Awards-nominated Ashley Jensen (Catastrophe, Extras, Ugly Betty, Love Lies & Records), who said:
“I’m thrilled Agatha Raisin will be returning for another series. MC Beaton has created such vivid characters, settings, and mysteries, it’s been a joy to return to the role.”
Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham follows Agatha as she returns to Carsely from Cyprus with a broken heart, a frizz from hell, and in need of a renewing pick-me-up. The local ladies all deem Mr. John a to-die-for wizard, so she makes a beeline for the handsome Evesham hairdresser. As well as sorting out Agatha’s hair, it soon becomes clear the charming man also has designs on her heart. But their future together is cut short when a murderer strikes at the busy salon.
Once again, Agatha gets entangled in mischief and mayhem and finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery as she puts her life in danger to bring the killer to justice. Was the culprit one of Mr. John’s many customers, all of whom divulged to him their darkest secrets?
Also returning for Series 2 are Mathew Horne (Gavin and Stacey, Drunk History UK) as Roy, Agatha’s former assistant; Lucy Liemann (Rev.) as her friend Sarah; Matt McCooey (Doctors) as eager Detective Constable Bill Wong; and Katy Wix (Not Going Out) as Gemma, her cleaner and friend.
The world premiere of Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham happens Monday, November 19, 2018, followed by the debuts of Agatha Raisin and the Fairies of Fryfam on Christmas Eve and Agatha Raisin and the Curious Curate in late January 2019.
Stay tuned for updates.
