Text Santa, ITV’s annual charity appeal, was back for another star-studded fundraiser today, and this year’s campaign featured (the final) Downton Abbey Text Santa sketch.
The Downton Abbey Text Santa 2015 video finds Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) pleading with his lordship (Hugh Bonneville) to let him be the Abbey’s Santa Claus.
However, Carson has competition.
Others auditioning for the role of Father Christmas — in front of Lord Grantham, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), and Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton) — include Oscar® winner Jim Broadbent (Iris), celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, British Soap Awards winner Michelle Keegan (Coronation Street), Royal Television Society UK Awards-winning presenter Gok Wan (How to Look Good Naked), BAFTA winner Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope, entertainment icon Sir Bruce Forsyth, OBE, CBE, and Warwick Davis (Harry Potter).
Mr Molesley (Kevin Doyle), Mrs Patmore (Lesley Nicol), Andy (Michael Fox), Mr Bates (Brendan Coyle), Thomas (Rob James-Collier), and Mrs Hughes (Phyllis Logan) also feature in the video.
A host of stars did “their bit in a Christmas Knit” in support of Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day, a three-hour TV spectacular on ITV that raised £8,383,361 — the highest total ever for a Text Santa campaign.
