British House of Cards Coming to Local Public Television Stations [UPDATED]
Before there was Netflix’s Primetime Emmy®-nominated House of Cards, there was the original House of Cards from the BBC, one of the British Film Institute’s “BFI TV 100,” a list of the best British television programs to have ever aired. And it is the latter that will be coming to public television stations across the US.
Nearly a quarter century ago, the no-bad-deed-goes-punished Francis Urquhart (played to the hilt by Ian Richardson) took telly screens by storm in the UK. His unbridled ambition and diabolical machinations to become Prime Minister gripped British viewers like no political thriller broadcast before it.
Fast forward to 2014, when public television stations will be bringing Urquhart, his equally fiendish wife, and the fellow politicos who are both threats to and unwitting pawns in his quest for power, to US telly. Like its American counterpart, the British House of Cards is devilishly good entertainment, and you can watch it on the stations listed below.
