With filming of Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence underway in London, BritBox has clued us in to who’s joining the series’ lead cast of Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up) as Tuppence, an actress and force of nature who won’t take no for an answer; Josh Dylan (The Buccaneers, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) as Tommy, a meticulous, charming crime writer who has lost his passion, but finds it again when whirlwind Tuppence re-enters his life; and Imelda Staunton (The Crown, “Paddington” films) as Tommy’s formidable Aunt Ada, a wry, retired private detective who loves her nephew because he never undermines her.

Additional cast includes:

  • Nicholas Richardson (Wu-tang: An American Saga, Younger) as Julius, a charismatic film producer determined to win back his wife, Tuppence, when she suddenly leaves for London.
  • Charlie Condou (Dr. Who, Unforgotten) as Albert, the witty, self-assured live-in landlady of the Lady Albert Pub in Hampstead and Tommy’s closest friend.
  • Callie Cooke (F1, Cheaters) as Detective Sergeant Draper, a smart, idealistic newcomer eager to prove herself, but whose admiration for Tommy sees her willing to bend the rules.
  • Chizzy Akudolu (Little Disasters, The Woman in the Wall) as Detective Inspector Merriot, a sharp, no-nonsense detective who doesn’t suffer fools.

Guest stars include Sebastian De Souza (The Life List, The Great), Sean Pertwee (The Hack, Gotham), Saffron Burrows (You, Mozart In The Jungle), Alex Jennings (The Crown, This Is Going to Hurt), Denise Black (Rivals, Queer as Folk), and Alice Krige (She Will, Gretel and Hansel).

Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence is the first contemporary, English-language television series adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Tommy & Tuppence” novels and short stories. In the six-parter, Tommy and Tuppence are a detective duo for the ages. They fall in love, fall out of it, and tumble back in, all while solving some thrilling, entertaining mysteries along the way.

The series is written by Phoebe Eclair-Powell (The Road Trip, Harm), who also executive produces, in her first drama series commission for television. Fergus O’Brien (Happy Valley, The Tourist) is directing the first four episodes and Ellie Heydon (Outrageous, Trying) the last two. Stella Merz (Miss Austen, Gentleman Jack) is the producer.

A production of Lookout Point (Pride and Prejudice, Happy Valley), part of BBC Studios, in association with Agatha Christie Limited, Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence was commissioned by Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar, and Stephen Nye on behalf of BritBox, the lead commissioner of the series. Laura Lankester, Katie Draper, and Louise Mutter from Lookout Point, Phoebe Eclair-Powell, and James Prichard from Agatha Christie Limited, also executive produce. BBC Studios will handle global sales.

Stay tuned for updates about the show’s premiere. In the meantime, check out other adaptations of Agatha Christie’s works on BritBox, including Agatha Christie’s Partners in Crime (the first British TV adaptation, starring Francesca Annis and James Warwick), the Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple mystery movies, Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, The Pale Horse, and more.
