Acorn TV announced today the US and Canada premiere date for Murder Before Evensong, a new mystery series starring Matthew Lewis. Check out the trailer.
Set in rural England in the late 1980s, Murder Before Evensong sees Matthew Lewis (“Harry Potter” films, All Creatures Great and Small) in the lead role of Canon Daniel Clement, the Rector of Champton. Daniel shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother, Audrey (Amanda Redman, The Good Karma Hospital, New Tricks), and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda.
When Daniel announces a plan to modernize the church, the parish is suddenly divided. Then a body is found dead at the back of the church, and he finds himself unexpectedly entangled in a murder case. As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try to keep his fractured community together… and catch a killer.
Murder Before Evensong, an Acorn TV Original, premieres in the US and Canada on Monday, September 29, exclusively on Acorn TV.
Based on the eponymous first title in the best-selling “Canon Clement Mysteries” series of mystery novels by the Reverend Richard Coles, the series features Amit Shah (Happy Valley) as DS Neil Vanloo, Adam James (The Day of the Jackal) as Bernard De Floures, Meghan Treadway (One Day) as Honor De Floures, Alexander Delamain as Alex De Floures, Marion Bailey (The Crown) as Kath, Amanda Hadingue (Kaos) as Dora, Tamzin Outhwaite (The Wives) as Stella Harper, Francis Magee (Kin) as Edgy, and Nina Toussaint-White (Showtrial) as Jane Thwaite.
Murder Before Evensong is adapted by Nick Hicks-Beach (Inspector Lewis, DCI Banks, Midsomer Murders) and directed by David Moore (Fool Me Once, Outlander, Shetland, Agatha Christie’s Marple). The executive producers are the Reverend Richard Coles, Radford Neville for The Lighthouse Film and Television, Catherine Mackin and Don Klees for Acorn TV/Acorn Media Enterprises, and Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor, Drama, and Sebastian Cardwell for 5, which co-produces the series. The series will be available in the UK on 5 this fall.
