The first season of Sherwood, a 2023 BAFTA TV Awards nominee and Royal Television Society, UK winner for Best Drama Series, was one of the most watched shows in the UK. Inspired by actual events that occurred two decades ago, it revolves around the killings of two local Nottinghamshire residents, the subsequent investigation, and the aftermath on the community.

The suspense-filled second season is set in the present day and explores the powerful themes that made the first season so resonant. It introduces two new families who find themselves entangled with the Sparrows — entering a complex web of local gangs, old rivalries, revenge, and betrayal. Meanwhile, a newly-appointed Sheriff of Nottingham is passionately fighting against a proposed new mine for the area, which brings the promise of much-needed jobs and prosperity but also unwelcome reminders of the legacy that has mired the community for so long.

Sherwood: Season 2, a BritBox Original, premieres in the US and Canada on Thursday, November 14, exclusively on BritBox.

Filmed in and around Nottingham, the eight-episode second season is written by Nottingham-born James Graham (Quiz, The Crown), who serves as an executive producer. It is directed by Clio Barnard (Ali & Ava, The Selfish Giant), who also executive produces, and Tom George (This Country, See How They Run).

A project of House Productions, the second season of Sherwood is produced by Kate Ogborn (Life After Life, The North Water). Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross, and Harriet Spencer are executive producers for House Productions, with Jo McClellan executive producing for the BBC. BBC Studios, which owns House Productions, is the international distributor of both seasons. Season 1 of Sherwood is currently available to stream on BritBox.
