It feels like forever and a day since the multiple Emmy®, Golden Globes®, and BAFTA Awards-winning first season of The Night Manager concluded. That was eight years ago. Now, we finally have a glimpse of what’s in store when the second season arrives.

Season 2 brings back Tom Hiddleston (Loki, The Life of Chuck), who reprises his lead role as former British intelligence operative Jonathan Pine. Rejoining him are Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) as Angela Burr, the Head of the Foreign Office’s International Enforcement Agency; Alistair Petrie (Sex Education, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Sandy Langbourne, the financial director for charismatic criminal Richard Roper (played by Hugh Laurie in Season 1); Douglas Hodge (Joker, Black Mirror) as Rex Mayhew, Burr’s superior at the Foreign Office; Michael Nardone (Traces, Rome) as Frisky, one of Roper’s henchmen; and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy) as Daniel Roper, Roper’s son.

So, what happens in Season 2? Well, given everything that went down in Season 1, Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is now living a comfortingly uneventful life as Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London. He thought he’d buried his past until a chance sighting of an old Roper mercenary one night prompts a call to action, leading Pine to a violent encounter with Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva).

Then Pine meets Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), a businesswoman who reluctantly helps him infiltrate Teddy’s arms operation. Once in Colombia, Pine is plunged into a deadly plot involving arms and guerrilla army training. As allegiances splinter, Pine races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilize a nation. With betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late.

A production of The Ink Factory (The Pigeon Tunnel, The Little Drummer Girl) in association with Character 7, Demarest Films, and 127 Wall, and in co-production with Spanish collaborator Nostromo Pictures, The Night Manager: Season 2 is created and executive produced by David Farr, based on characters created by John le Carré. Directed in full by Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls), the new season expands the story beyond the source material of the titular novel for the first time.
