UPtv announced today the US premiere date for Season 7 of Hudson & Rex, the hit Canadian canine-police procedural series. Check out the teaser.
Hudson & Rex is one of my favorite shows. The crime stories are engaging and don’t require any heavy lifting on my part; I can just sit back and enjoy them. If I’m by my television, I watch the series on UPtv via the Philo app; if not, I stream it via the ION Plus app on the Plex platform. (Not all seasons are available on these apps; to stream all six seasons to date, you need a subscription to the UP Faith & Family channel, which I don’t have.)
Anyhoo, if you’re not familiar with the series, Hudson & Rex is the Canadian adaptation of the German series Kommissar Rex (known as Inspector Rex in the US). The family-friendly police procedural follows Rex, an awesome, highly-skilled K9 German Shepherd, and the dedicated team of the St. John’s Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit. They include Detective Charlie Hudson (John Reardon, Continuum, Van Helsing), forensics expertise of Dr. Sarah Truong (Mayko Nguyen, Killjoys, ReGenesis), Superintendent Joe Donovan (Kevin Hanchard, Orphan Black, Cardinal), and tech specialist Jesse Mills (Justin Kelly, Wynonna Earp, Between). The human team tackles complex cases, with Rex always at the center of the action.
In Season 7, Rex takes on more challenging investigations alongside his trusted colleagues as they unravel a string of high-stakes crimes. From a bizarre death by bee stings to a best man found at the bottom of the Atlantic and a mass poisoning at a local pub, the Major Crimes team ventures further afield to uncover the truth behind each mystery.
Hudson & Rex: Season 7 premieres in the US with two back-to-back episodes on Thursday, July 17, at 8pm ET, on UPtv.
