The CW has set the premiere date for the new mystery series, Sherlock & Daughter.

After more than a century, the character of Sherlock Holmes is still wildly popular. In addition to the multitude of fan fiction titles, as well as pastiches and Conan Doyle estate-approved “Sherlock Holmes” novels, there have been plenty of filmed works.
Joining the lot is the upcoming mystery thriller series, Sherlock & Daughter, in which David Thewlis (The Artful Dodger, Fargo, “Harry Potter” films) takes on the role of Sherlock Holmes. In this eight-episode drama, the game is afoot, but one in which the consulting detective is out of his comfort zone.
Firstly, Sherlock is hamstrung on a sinister case, as investigating it means risking the lives of his closest friends. Then, a young American woman named Amelia Rojas (Blu Hunt, The Originals, The New Mutants) enters his life. Her mother was a murder victim and she wants Sherlock to solve this case. And after learning that her missing father may be the legendary detective, Amelia also wants to prove that he is (or isn’t).
As the two delve into the mystery of her mother’s murder, Sherlock and Amelia also work together to solve a global conspiracy — and to find out for sure if she really is his daughter.
Sherlock & Daughter premieres in the US on Wednesday, April 16, at 9pm ET/PT, on The CW, with streaming available on The CW app. (It launches in the UK on the same date on Discovery+.)
Amongst the costars are Paul Reid (Finding Joy), Antonio Aakeel (Slow Horses), and Dougray Scott (Crime) as Moriarty.
