Netflix has released the official trailer for Toxic Town, a new historical drama series with a top-notch cast. Check it out.

Written by BAFTA Awards winner Jack Thorne (The Virtues, National Treasure), Toxic Town is based on the real-life story of the Corby poisonings, one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals. Called “the British Erin Brockovich,” the limited series also has a bit of Mr Bates vs. the Post Office about it, as the drama centers on three mothers who take on a David-and-Goliath fight for justice.
In the four-part historical drama, we follow these women over many years — Susan McIntyre (Jodie Whittaker, Doctor Who, Broadchurch), Tracey Taylor (Aimee Lou Wood, Sex Education, The White Lotus), and Maggie Mahon (Claudia Jessie, Bridgerton, Line of Duty) — as they raise their children, born with birth defects. Over time, they begin to suspect that the birth defects are connected to the redevelopment of the former steel production plant in Corby. This eventually leads them to confront their town’s leadership about its alleged mismanagement of the toxic waste materials on the industrial site, which allowed them to be exposed to the toxins while pregnant, and ultimately to bring a class action lawsuit against the Corby Borough Council.
It would be a landmark case with a historically significant decision.
The drama’s star-studded cast also includes Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty, Trainspotting), Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat, “James Bond” films), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, Spotless), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Showtrial), Stephen McMillan (Boiling Point, The North Water), Lauren Lyle (Karen Pirie, Outlander), Michael Socha (Chernobyl, Being Human), and Karla Crome (Carnival Row, The Victim).
Toxic Town, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, February 27, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
