Today Peacock dropped the official trailer for The Day of the Jackal, a new suspense thriller series starring Eddie Redmayne.
Hooey! Another series that I and loads of folks are looking forward to: the highly-anticipated The Day of the Jackal.
Leading the cast of the ten-episode thriller are Academy Award®, Tony Award, and BAFTA Film Award winner Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse, The Trial of The Chicago Seven, The Theory of Everything) and BAFTA Award winner Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die, Captain Marvel, The Woman King).
Redmayne plays the Jackal, an unrivaled and highly-elusive lone assassin who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in tenacious British intelligence officer Bianca (Lashana Lynch), who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.
The Day of the Jackal, a Peacock Original, premieres in the US with the first five episodes on Thursday, November 14, exclusively on Peacock, with new episodes dropping weekly through the double-episode finale on Thursday, December 12. (It premieres Thursday, November 7, on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.)
Based on the seminal Frederick Forsyth thriller and award-winning 1973 film adaptation of the same name, The Day of the Jackal also stars Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist, Snatch) as Nuria, someone at the heart of the Jackal’s personal life, unaware of who he truly is.
Also featuring in the thriller are Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Richard Dormer (Blue Lights), Chukwudi Iwuji (The Split), Lia Williams (The Capture), Khalid Abdalla (The Crown), Eleanor Matsuura (The Walking Dead), Jonjo O’Neill (Bad Sisters), Nick Blood (Slow Horses), Sule Rimi (Classified), and Florisa Kamara (Eastenders).
A production of Carnival Films (Downton Abbey), part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, The Day of the Jackal was commissioned by Sky Studios and Peacock. It is written and adapted by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, Gunpowder) and lead directed by Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones).
Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant are Executive Producers for Carnival Films. Redmayne is also an Executive Producer, and Lynch a Co-Executive Producer on the project. Sam Hoyle is the Executive Producer for Sky Studios. Sue Naegle serves as Executive Producer and Marianne Buckland as Co-Executive Producer. Christopher Hall is Producer and Emily Shapland is Co-Producer. Frederick Forsyth is Consulting Producer.
