Set in the (fictional) small coastal town of Bodkin, Ireland, Bodkin follows a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in this seemingly idyllic Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.

As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, about themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.

Starring in the seven-episode thriller are Will Forte (Nebraska, Sweet Tooth) as Gilbert, a charming and enthusiastic American podcaster with Irish roots on the hunt for his next big story; Siobhán Cullen (The Dry, Obituary) as Dove, a hard-nosed, London-based investigative journalist originally from Dublin; Robyn Cara (Trying, Ackley Bridge) as Emmy, a funny and eager-to-please researcher who has been helping Gilbert organize the podcast; David Wilmot (Station Eleven, Barkskins) as Seamus Gallagher, a mercurial and mysterious figure; and Chris Walley (1917, Bloodlands) as Seán O’Shea, a feckless Bodkin local who’s not particularly preoccupied with the responsibilities that usually accompany adulthood.

Bodkin, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, May 9, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

Created and executive produced by Jez Scharf (The UnDream), who also serves as co-showrunner alongside fellow executive producer Alex Metcalf (UnREAL), the series hails from Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground production company. The Obamas serve as executive producers alongside Tonia Davis, their head of film and television, as well as Nne Ebong, David Flynn, and Paul Lee. Nash Edgerton (Mr Inbetween) is lead director.
