Baghead follows Iris (Freya Allan, The Witcher, The Third Day), a young woman who travels to Berlin to identify the body of her estranged father (Peter Mullan, Mum), who had bequeathed to her a run-down, centuries-old pub. This was a surprise, and there is more to come. After discussing the estate with the solicitor (Ned Dennehy, Peaky Blinders) and signing the deed, Iris becomes inextricably tied to an unspeakable entity that resides in the pub’s basement: Baghead, a shape-shifting creature that can transform into the dead.

Capitalizing on her very strange inheritance, the skint Iris, like her late father, sets out to exploit the creature’s powers and help desperate people, as well as herself, for a price. Two thousand in cash for two minutes with Baghead (Anne Müller, Babylon Berlin) is all it takes for desperate loved ones to ease their grief (and line Iris’s pockets). Neil (Jeremy Irvine, Dalgliesh), who has lost his wife, is Iris’s first customer. But she soon discovers that breaking the two-minute rule can have terrifying consequences. Together with her best friend, Katie (Ruby Barker, Bridgerton), Iris must battle to keep control of Baghead and figure out how to destroy the creature before it destroys them.

Baghead makes its US streaming debut on Friday, April 5, exclusively on Shudder and the AMC+ streaming bundle.

Directed by Alberto Corredor, the film is a full-length feature adaptation of Corredor’s indie short of the same name and will debut as part of the streamer’s annual month-long “Halfway to Halloween” horror-thon lineup.

Baghead was produced by STUDIOCANAL and The Picture Company’s Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona through their long-term deal with the European giant. Roy Lee and Jake Wagner are Executive Producers, along with Alberto and Lorcan Reilly, who wrote the original short film.
