The awesome news about five-time BAFTA Award-nominated series Slow Horses being renewed for a fifth season comes on the heels of the Season 3 finale, which debuted on December 27, 2023, on Apple TV+.

Starring Oscar® winner Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour, Mank, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as the irascible Jackson Lamb in the series, Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known unaffectionately as Slough House. Oldman stars as Lamb, the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.

The ensemble cast includes Academy Award® nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient, Four Weddings and a Funeral), BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden (The Gold, Small Axe), Saskia Reeves (Roadkill, Belgravia), Rosalind Eleazar (Deep Water, Harlots), Christopher Chung (Waterloo Road, Neighbours), Samuel West (All Creatures Great and Small, Howards End), Oscar® nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Britannia), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders, Detectorists), Kadiff Kirwan (This Is Going to Hurt, This Way Up), and Academy Award® nominee Jonathan Pryce (The Crown, Game of Thrones).

Based on London Rules, the fifth title in Mick Herron’s CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning “Slough House” spy novel series, Season 5 of Slow Horses finds everyone being suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) has a glamorous new girlfriend. And when a series of increasingly bizarre events occurs across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, “London Rules” should always apply.

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith. Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens, and Graham Yost serve as executive producers on the series. The director for Season 5 has not yet been announced.

Filming has completed on Season 4 of Slow Horses, which is adapted from Spook Street, Book 4 in the “Slough House” series.

Slow Horses: Seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Apple TV+.
