Disney+ released today a teaser for Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road, the Doctor Who 2023 Christmas special. Check it out!
After watching this past weekend “The Giggle,” the third and final Doctor Who 60th anniversary Christmas special, in which Ncuti Gatwa makes his very first (awesome!) appearance in the series as The Doctor, I and every Whovian in all the galaxies are excited as all get-out for “The Church on Ruby Road,” the Doctor Who 2023 Christmas special.
It stars Ncuti Gatwa in his first full outing as The Doctor and Millie Gibson as The Doctor’s new companion, Ruby Sunday. Earlier today, the two actors pushed the button to light the London Eye landmark in the colors of the iconic Doctor Who Time Vortex to celebrate the special’s premiere and mark their debuts in the worldwide phenomenon.
Additionally, a blue carpet world premiere screening of the Christmas Special and a Q&A with Gatwa, Gibson, and showrunner Russell T Davies took place at the British Film Institute, Southbank, today.
In “The Church on Ruby Road,” a baby was abandoned in the snow on a Christmas Eve long ago. Today, Ruby Sunday meets The Doctor, as well as stolen babies and goblins, and perhaps the secret of her birth.
Joining Gatwa and Gibson in the special are popular television presenter Davina McCall (The Masked Singer: UK) as herself, Michelle Greenidge (After Life) as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter (EastEnders) as Cherry Sunday, and Anita Dobson (EastEnders) as Mrs. Flood.
Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road premieres globally (outside of the UK and Ireland) on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, starting at 12:55 PM ET / 9:55 AM PT, exclusively on Disney+.
Already streaming on Disney+ are all three of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials — “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder,” and “The Giggle.”
