Get ready to be moved to laughter and tears all over again, as Season 2 of the feel-good, funny, and furry docuseries, The Dog House: UK, gets its US premiere date.
The Dog House: UK is an observational documentary that follows the goings-on at the Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. Here the staff put on their matchmaking hats for the abandoned dogs in their care and the singles, couples, and families who come to Wood Green in the hopes of finding their perfect canine companion.
The series captures the joy and complexity of the human-dog “dating” experience — giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how the center’s dedicated staff match pets with potential new owners, and then arrange the all-important “first date” that will determine if the adorable pups and hopeful humans have a love-at-fist-sight connection.
The first season of The Dog House: UK was one of my favorite new shows of 2020. Hearing the tearful tales of the abandoned dogs and the backstories of the people hoping to transform their lives by adopting a furry new four-legged friend, combined with witnessing the staff’s commitment to find the best match between them, made me laugh, get choked up and teary-eyed, and cheer during each of the eight episodes. I expect to do the same when the nine-episode second season arrives next month.
The Dog House: UK: Season 2, a Max Original series, premieres in the US in its entirety on Thursday, July 8, exclusively on HBO Max.
