ITV announced today additional guest stars for the second season of the mystery-crime drama series McDonald & Dodds.
Following the announcement last month about the guest stars for the first feature-length episode of Season 2 of McDonald & Dodds, today ITV clued us in about the guest actors for the second episode.
Joining series leads Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia in the new season are Shelley Conn (Liar), Natalie Gumede (Strike), Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary), and John Thomson (Cold Feet).
Set in picturesque Bath, McDonald & Dodds follows the criminal investigations conducted by the team of DCI McDonald (Tala Gouveia, Cold Feet), a smart, ambitious, and feisty fast-track detective recently transferred from London’s Met Police, and DS Dodds (Jason Watkins, The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies), a humble, unassuming, and quietly brilliant investigator who has been happy working in the background for most of his career.
In “We Need To Talk About Doreen,” Season 2’s second episode, Doreen (Sharon Rooney) is part of a group that has traveled to Bath to celebrate their friend Angela’s (Joy McAvoy, Two Doors Down) birthday. While out on the town, Doreen, Angela, Hilary (Shelley Conn), Melissa (Maya Coates), and Cath (Kat Ronney) get chatting with Dominique Aubert (Tomos Gwynfryn, King Arthur: Excalibur Rising) and some other players from the Bath Eagles Rugby Club, and then get invited by rugby club chairman Jimmy (John Thomson) to a party at his home. They happily attend with members of the rugby team as well as Deborah (Natalie Gumede), Dominique’s agent.
But the following morning, as most of the party are nursing hangovers, the body of one guest is discovered near a railway tunnel, and McDonald and Dodds are called in to investigate.
Filming is currently underway on Season 2, which features returning cast members James Murray (Age Before Beauty) as Chief Superintendent Houseman and Jack Riddiford (Poldark) as DC Darren Craig, and Lily Sacofsky (Bancroft), who joins the regular cast as DC Milena Pachiorkowski.
Season 1 of McDonald & Dodds, a BritBox Original series, is currently available for streaming in the US exclusively on BritBox and its digital channels, including BritBox on Amazon Channels. UK viewers can stream the first season on BritBox UK.
