The highly-anticipated launch of HBO Max was yesterday, and it included the US premieres of shows from the UK, Ireland, and Canada.
HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, launched with 10,000 hours of curated content, which includes all eight Harry Potter films, the Downton Abbey movie, TV series and specials from across the pond and north of the border, and tons more.
New series Ghosts, Home, Stath Lets Flats, and Trigonometry premiered in the US (read about them here), as did some not-so-new shows such as the factual series The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, a collection of Stacey Dooley Investigates documentaries, and fantasy-comedy series Zapped.
Fans of Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge character can binge several of those series and specials, and folks who are into dating-type reality series can check out several shows from the UK, Ireland, and Canada. (By the way, spin-offs set in Australia and New Zealand are also available. See the Down Under TV Viewing Guide for specific titles.)
And viewer favorites include the complete Game of Thrones, the first eleven seasons of Doctor Who (reboot), all seasons of crime dramas DCI Banks, Scott & Bailey, and Wallander, and recent HBO series Chernobyl, Gentleman Jack, and Years and Years.
