Bye-bye bow tie and bowler hat. So long sand shoes and scarf. Doctor Who‘s Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, is manning the TARDIS now, and he has a new look!
Ta da!
Admittedly, I am more than a bit biased, but still… Dang! Capaldi is smokin’ hot in his new Doctor Who costume!
Created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden, the Twelfth Doctor’s ensemble is simple yet très distngué, from its dark blue Crombie coat with red lining and white shirt, down to the dark blue trousers and black Doc Martens shoes.
(Methinks the Crombie and Dr. Martens online and brick-and-mortar shops will be sold out of these pieces sooner than you can say… whatever the Twelfth Doctor’s catchphrase will be.)
On Burden’s design, Capaldi commented, “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% Rebel Time Lord.”
With a Scottish accent to boot. Aw, yeah!
Now if we could just travel forward in time so that the new season of Doctor Who would be on already. Capaldi’s near-nanosecond appearance in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor“, was an out-of-this-world surprise, and while his screen time was a tad longer in “The Time of the Doctor‘s regeneration scene, nothing will beat seeing him in his new threads in a full episode and season.
Speaking of, filming began earlier this month in Cardiff and will continue until August. Said lead writer and showrunner, Steven Moffat, “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over — Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you.”
