Netflix made history when the video streaming service became the first non-broadcast or cable network to receive a Best Drama Series nod, for its American remake of the hit British political satire House of Cards. And both Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, who played Francis and Claire Underwood, were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, respectively, amongst the show’s nine nominations. Television sure has come a long way…
But the questions on nearly every Brit TV fan’s mind are: Will Maggie Smith pull off a three-peat and win her third Emmy for playing the Dowager Countess? Will anyone else from the Downton cast bring home their first? And will Peter Dinklage and Damian Lewis return to the podium to accept their second for Game of Thrones and Homeland?
Tune in to CBS on Sunday, 22 September at 8PM Eastern to find out.
