Netflix has set the global premiere date for the true-crime docudrama Lover, Stalker, Killer. Check out the (unnerving) trailer.
Programs like Lover, Stalker, Killer must make the folks who run dating sites cringe and those who use them to put their phones down and leave the swiping to someone else.
This docudrama tells the story Dave Kroupa, a guy who was recently out of a long-term relationship and eager to restart his romantic life after moving to Omaha, Nebraska. He did what a lot of people do: online dating. Two of his most promising connections were with Liz and Cari, each woman a single mother with whom he hit it off, both of whom helped bring him out of his shell in different ways. This should have been an opportunity for Dave, a hard-working, devoted dad, to enjoy a bit of casual romance, but it turned into a twisted love triangle, putting him and everyone he cared about at risk.
Using interviews with those involved — including the law enforcement officers who cracked the case — alongside vivid reenactments that bring viewers into the tension and paranoia of Dave’s four-year nightmare, this feature documentary reveals a mind-bending true tale of harassment, digital deception, and murder in America’s heartland.
A project of London-based Curious Films (Running with the Devil) and directed by Sam Hobkinson (Misha and the Wolves, Fear City: New York vs the Mafia), Lover, Stalker, Killer, a Netflix Documentary, premieres globally on Friday, February 9, 2024, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
