The 2012 Olympic Games may be over, but the laughs will soon be starting when a select few PBS stations begin airing the Hugh Bonneville-led ensemble cast comedy, Twenty Twelve.
Leading up to London 2012 was Twenty Twelve,
Ian Fletcher (Bonneville, Downton Abbey), the Olympic Deliverance Commission’s Head of Deliverance, is responsible for ensuring the worldwide event goes off without a hitch. Except there are already plenty in the season opener, and only 1,000 days to go before the start of the Games. His team will get sorted the issues with branding, venues, and traffic, right? Well…
Working alongside Ian are Siobhan Sharpe (Jessica Hynes, Spaced), the valley girlish Head of Brand from the Perfect Curve PR firm, whose response to both hiccups and disasters is “That’s cool.”; Kay Hope (Amelia Bullmore, Scott & Bailey), who, if she’s said it once, she’s said it a thousand times, is Head of Sustainability, not Legacy; and Ian’s personal assistant, Sally Owen (Olivia Colman, Rev.), whose unrequited love for her married boss is demonstrated through efficiency and food.
Also in the cast are Karl Theobald (Green Wing) as Graham Hitchins, Head of Infrastructure; Vincent Franklin (The Thick of It) as Nick Jowett, Head of Contracts; Morven Christie (Lost in Austen) as Fi Healey, Head of Legacy; and Samuel Barnett (Desperate Romantics) as Daniel Stroud, who replaces Sally as Ian’s personal assistant in Season Two.
Guest stars include Nicholas Gleaves (Scott & Bailey), Nina Sosanya (Last Tango in Halifax), and Darren Boyd (Spy), amongst others, and David Tennant (Doctor Who) serves as the mockumentary’s narrator.
While both seasons of Twenty Twelve are available for streaming on Amazon Instant Video, viewers in the following areas will be able to watch them gratis on PBS member stations beginning this Saturday, 1 February 2014. (Check your local listings for premiere dates and times.)
