HBO has set the US premiere date for The Baby, a horror comedy series co-produced with the UK’s Sky. Check out the teaser.
HBO Original The Baby offers up a raw, darkly funny examination of motherhood from the perspective of a woman who doesn’t want to be a mother. The eight-episode limited series premieres in the US on Sunday, April 24, at 10:30 PM ET/PT, on HBO, and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
Created by Siân Robins-Grace (Sex Education) and Lucy Gaymer (Gangs of London), the half-hour series stars Michelle De Swarte (The Duchess) as Natasha, a 38-year-old woman whose closest friends are all having babies. Then, quite unexpectedly, she is landed with a baby of her own, and her life implodes dramatically.
The baby, while incredibly cute, is also controlling and manipulative, and twists Natasha’s life into a surreal horror show. As she discovers the true extent of the baby’s deadly nature, Natasha makes increasingly desperate attempts to get rid of it. She doesn’t want a baby, any baby — but this baby definitely wants her.
Amira Ghazalla (Carnival Row) costars as Mrs. Eaves, the 70-year-old enigma who’s spent the last fifty years living out of her car and seems to be everywhere the Baby is, with Amber Grappy (Wrecked) playing Natasha’s younger sister Bobbi, a children’s magician who’d love nothing more than to be a parent, giving and receiving love.
The cast also includes Patrice Naiambana (Spectre) as Natasha’s father Lyle, Sinéad Cusack (Marcella) as her mother Barbara, Shvorne Marks (Endeavour) as Mags, Isy Suttie (Peep Show) as Rita, Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education) as Helen, Seyan Sarvan (It’s a Sin) as young Mrs. Eaves, Karl Davies (Happy Valley) as young Jack, and Divian Ladwa (Detectorists) as Fooze.
