Acorn TV has revealed the first look at its new Canadian-produced whodunit series, You’re Killing Me, executive produced by and starring Brooke Shields. Check out the teaser.
Here’s a quick quiz: What’s the first television series you think of when you hear (or read) the following: bestselling novelist, quaint New England town, and murder mystery? If you answered Murder, She Wrote, you’d be amongst millions of people who would’ve thought the same thing.
Except here we’re talking about You’re Killing Me, the new series from Acorn TV starring Brooke Shields (Mother of the Bride, Jane the Virgin), along with Amalia Williamson (Sullivan’s Crossing) and Tom Cavanagh (The Flash, Ed). It’s like a younger, hipper MSW for the 21st century!
The six-episode whodunit series is set in a quaint New England town where Allie (Shields), a best-selling novelist, forms an unlikely alliance with Andi (Williamson), an aspiring writer and podcaster, to find the killer of a close friend. Working the official case is Jack (Cavanagh), the new lead detective of the local police department and a former city slicker trying to acclimate to the quirks of small-town life.
Created by Robin Bernheim Burger (When Calls the Heart), You’re Killing Me is a co-production of Topsail Entertainment (Trailer Park Boys) and Shaftesbury (Murdoch Mysteries). Bernheim and Shields executive produce alongside James Genn (The Good Doctor, Ginny and Georgia, Charmed), who directs Episodes 101 and 102, as well as Michael Volpe for Topsail and Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury. Scott Smith (The Magicians, Call Me Fitz, Skins) directs Episodes 103 and 104 and Paul Fox (Schitt’s Creek, The Dark Hours, Anne with an E) directs Episodes 105 and 106.
